Ending graft and building economy will be our focus

One Kenya Alliance principals took campaigns to Trans-Nzoia County on Saturday assuring Kenyans that they would prioritize the economy and end corruption.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka addressed the first rally at Sibanga market in Cherangany sub-county.

They promised Kenyans a solution to the ailing economy and that they are ready to fix it if one of them is elected as president.

Wetangula said the economy requires an urgent surgery arguing that the coalition’s desire was to fix it and liberate Kenyans from the high cost of living.

He promised that if one of them is elected as president in next year’s elections, the alliance would reduce the cost of farm inputs to induce production.

“Agriculture is the backbone of the country but food production has gone down due to the high cost of production caused by cartels in the ministry. We are going to lock out brokers behind high cost of seeds and fertilizer and ensure farmers access farm inputs,” Wetangula said.

Kalonzo said the team is committed to improve the economy and unite Kenyans from the hand of poverty.

He said the coalition will put more focus on redirecting the revival of the ailing economy to make life affordable to all Kenyans.

“Our priority is to revive the ailing economy and fight the war against corruption and other vices which are sabotaging service delivery to Kenyans,” he said.

He warned Kenyans against electing a corrupt president that would make life more miserable.

“Don’t allow people who stole public money and using the same as handouts in a bid to get to power. They will make you suffer a lot. I ask you to consider voting for a credible leader who will be able to transform the country,” he added.

Kalonzo said if one of the principal gets the mandate to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta, they would bring down the cost of living and unite Kenyans through inclusiveness.

“Our agenda is to make the cost of living affordable and provide free education to all Kenyan children in primary and secondary level. The money stolen from the public by individuals would be used to fund education programme,” he said.

Musalia asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to expedite the opening up of railway services to Kitale town to spur development in the region.

He argued that reintroduction of railway services to the county will ease transportation of the produce to other areas.

“We have seen the government open up rail service from Mombasa to Nairobi, Naivasha to Kisumu. I’m urging the President to do the same to Kitale to enable local farmers to access local and international market less costly. This would improve production,” he said.

Kanu Chairman Gideon Moi skipped the Trans Nzoia tour.

The team addressed rallies in Maili saba, Center Kwanza before heading to Kolongolo.

The OKA principals addressed rallies in Kapkoi, Chepchoina, Endebess, Matisi, Kitale and winded up at Kiminini.
