Kenya has been declared the World’s Best Safari destination for the 7th and 6th time in a row today, Saturday, November 28, 2020, during the Annual World Travel Awards Grand Finale 2020.
The 27th edition of the global awards appreciates excellence in all global travel and tourism industry sectors.
This is the 7th time and 6 in a row that the country has bagged the award after scooping the award in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) Chairman, Jimi Kariuki, celebrated the win stating it was a confirmation of Kenya’s excellent offering of the ultimate Safari Experience.
Kariuki said it is without a doubt that it is a well-deserved win and promised that the Tourism sector would continue with their commitment towards preserving the unique wildlife heritage bestowed to the country for the sake of generations to come.
He further noted that the award meant a lot to Kenya, especially now when the entire global travel and tourism industry had been greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
On his part, KTB CEO Betty Radier said the award could not have come at a better time, as the industry was slowly bouncing back to life.
She added that the win was instrumental in cementing the country’s position as the top destination in global tourism.
Radier noted that the award was also a motivator for the industry to keep on improving their offerings in areas like Beach and experiences.
Some of Kenya’s best Safari destinations are the World famous Maasai Mara National Reserve, the Tsavo East and West National Parks, Amboseli National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Nairobi National Park (the only national park in the World within a Capital city.
Kenya has been on a winning spree as it recently bagged three awards during the inaugural Africa Winners Day at the World Travel Awards.
