Safaricom’s Chief Financial officer Sateesh Kamath is set to join mother company Vodafone after being appointed Chief Financial Officer Vodafone Business effective July 1, 2020.
In a statement issued by Safaricom, Sateesh will be remembered for his role in leading the telco giant through profitable times.
“He is credited with, among many other achievements, helping to build Safaricom’s shareholders’ value by 50 percent to Ksh 1.2trilion and improving business through Fit for Future Initiatives adding 6 percentage points on EBIT margin,” read part of Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa’s statement.
The statement further praised Sateesh for playing a vital role in Safaricom’s acquisition of M-Pesa from Vodafone.
“He played a key role in completion of acquisition of M-Pesa Joint Venture from Vodafone and purchase of critical spectrum while ensuring efficient use of company’s funds.”
Before joining Safaricom in 2016, Sateesh served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director on the board of Vodacom Tanzania.
Sateesh holds a First Class Bachelor of Commerce from Mahatma Gandhi University and is also a qualified accountant from the Institute of Cost Works and Accountants of India.
