A matatu tout Dickson Maina fell from the roof of a house in Kayole while trying to escape a baboon attack.
A video making rounds on social media since Tuesday, July 7 show the man falling on an iron sheet fence.
Maina states he was at a local hospital when noises from the neighborhood attracted his attention. He resorted to the area to find what caused the distress. It was until he climbed the wall that the baboon charged at Maina.
“It wanted to bite me so I decided to jump. Luckily, I missed the balcony and landed on a fence with iron sheets,” narrated Maina.
The man in question sustained deep cuts on his right cheek and thumbs. Additionally, his left arm broke. Maia explained several people tried chasing the baboon to no avail. After he fell, they came to his rescue.
The good neighbors cut open the iron sheets and saved Maina. He was taken to Arrow Web hospital but later transferred to Mama Lucy teaching and referral hospital for further treatment.
The hospital requested him to return after two days to dress his wounds with new bandages. According to residents, the baboon likely came from Nyamavilla.
Currently, Maina says the Kenya Wildlife Society needs to compensate him. Had the baboon attacked a child, it could cost them their life.
“A baboon is dangerous, it charged at me luckily I managed to run for my life. What if it were a child?” said Maina.
He further asked Kenyans to offer him advice on the best way to contact authorities sine he must feed his family. Watch the video below.
