Artists team up to raise funds in support of Papa Dennis funeral

Papa Dennis will be laid to rest on Wednesday, 19 February 2020. The award-winning gospel musician fell from seventh floor on a building on Saturday, 8 February 2020.

Burial arrangements are still underway, meetings are held at Nairobi Country Cooking Hotel along Biashara Street. The committee is meeting daily from 6 pm to 9 pm for the burial arrangements.

One of the members CEO at Nairobi records Mash Mjukuu said; there will be a memorial service before the burial. According to Mash, the service will take place on Monday 17, February 2020 from 1 pm to 4 pm at Nairobi chapel along Ngong’ road.

Additionally, Mash said, “His body will be transferred later on Monday to Matunda Kakamega County. It is expected that there will be a public viewing of the body at Matunda town on Tuesday, 18 February 2020.

On Tuesday night, Kenyan artists will conduct another service.”

Mash confirms that several artists have supported the burial arrangements. Also, they require to gather more funds to support Papa Dennis’s family now they are grieving. The artists are anticipating to give him a decent send-off by receiving contributions from well-wishers.

Daddy Owen said that after Papa was kicked out of Maliza Umaskini record label. He couldn’t keep up with life. Therefore, he started suffering from financial constraints that led to his depression.

On Monday, 10 February 2020, Dr. Joseph Ndung’u conducted a post-mortem examination on Papa Dennis. The exam revealed that Papa died of a brain injury that was caused by a high-speed situation. Joseph said that the traumatic injury could occur as a result of either high impact or motor vehicle accident.

From the results, it was not clear whether the cause was suicidal or homicide. Other samples were taken to government chemist to test whether he was under substance abuse.

Meanwhile, DCI is still pursuing the matter for more investigations.
