Bahati consoles Diamond Platnumz after losing BET award to Burna Boy

Talented hit song maker Bahati has penned a long social media message consoling Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz after losing the Best International act award to Nigeria’s Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy.

Referring to Diamond as his big brother, Bahati let him know he was still a winner as he has achieved so much at a young age.

Bahati praised Diamond Platnumz for inspiring Africa’s young generation that it is possible to succeed no matter one’s background.

Diamond’s message

The ‘Jeje’ singer thanked Tanzanians for the support they’ve shown him ever since BET announced his nomination.

He stated how proud he was that the country was now being presented at an international level.

He mentioned his hopes of winning next time and urged his fellow citizens to be there for the other Tanzanian musicians like they have been for him.

Speaking on his former boss’ loss, NLM CEO Rayvanny stated that losing is normal.

He, however, said that he has full faith that Diamond would continue shining even in his future projects.

The Black Entertainment Television awards were held on Sunday, June 27th, at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

‘On the low’ hitmaker Burna Boy is currently one of the biggest African musician’s and this was the third year in a row walking home with the award.

The singer has amassed quite an international following owing to his captivating songs, and fans couldn’t help cheering as his name was mentioned.

Burna Boy’s proud mom accompanied his son to the International stage to pick the award. While giving his speech, the Nigerian taught the attendees a little pidgin language showing pride for his country.

The talented star was competing against bigwigs like Wizkid, Diamond Platnumz, Emicida, Aya Nakamura, Headie One, Young T & Bugsey and Youssoupha.

Diamond Platnumz graced this year’s BET ceremony adorned in colourful Maasai regalia. He was accompanied by his manager Saalam Sk.

A few weeks ago, Tanzanians launched a petition to disqualify Diamond Platnumz from the event, but unfortunately, it didn’t go through.

They wanted the ‘kamata’ hitmaker to be barred from competing because he supported the former Tanzanian president Pombe Magufuli.

They claimed that he openly endorsed a ‘dictator.’
