Detectives arraigned controversial blogger and YouTuber Edgar Obare aka the tea master in court today. They charged him with publication of private and personal details of vlogger Natalie Githinji aka Natalie Tewa.
Asked how he pleads, Edgar Obare pleaded ‘not guilty’.
Edgar Obare runs an Instagram page and a YouTube channel that specialize in local celebrity exposés. Additionally, he has a website that summarizes the stories of the exposés he has previously done.
Earlier this month, the controversial social media personality did a story on Natalie Wanjiru Githinji. The story sparked a lot of reactions from his followers because he was linking her to Governor Hassan Joho.
Obare alleged that Natalie was part of the entourage that went to visit ODM leader Raila Odinga in Dubai after his surgery.
On his Instagram page, Edgar posted a series of photos as ‘proof’ that Natalie had indeed left the country.
Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho left the country and headed to Dubai to visit ODM leader Raila Odinga. The other leaders who accompanied him was legislator Junet Mohamed. The two used a private jet.
Angered by the post, Youtuber Natalie Tewa reported the matter. Detectives arrested him and he has been in detention at Gigiri Police Station.

Via the hashtag #FreeEdgarObare on twitter, Kenyans on twitter have expressed their sentiments on the issue. While one side believes that the government should focus on more important matters, others believe that Edgar Obare is getting what he deserves.
