Former K24 Swahili news anchor Mwanaisha Chidzuga has penned down a consolation message to the 100 Mediamax employees who were laid off early this week.
In a long post, the former TV queen pointed out that she promised herself that she would never again get too attached to a company.
She advised them that this was because as long as their names are not listed among the shareholders or owners of the company, they should never be too comfortable.
“Dear friends, I wrote this letter to myself when I first lost y job back in 2015. I thought I should share because it changed my life, I hope it does to you too. Too attached to a company never again. As long as your name is not listed as a shareholder or the owner of the company, don’t be too comfortable. Use that platform (employment) to build yourself the same way you are so busy and committed in building another person’s company,” read part of her post.
She went on to mention that employment should be a side hustle and their side hustle should be their full-time job. She went on to advise them to start over, invest in their businesses, build them, take risks, lose sleep, and celebrate the success and failures that come with a business.
“To those who lost jobs POLENI sana but take the lessons with you so that next time it happens to you, you should be more than ready. It will be like transitioning to better bigger you. I have been there twice and since then, I’m more than content with the person I have become,” she said.
She went on to caution them by saying that the companies they worked for never asked for their input when they were laying the foundations.
She added that the employees are the ones who make their employers’ dream come true. She further challenged them to make their own dreams come true too.
After being fired, Mwanaisha Chidzuga focused on her business where she runs a hotel.
