Radio presenter Mwalimu Rachel awarded by YouTube

NRG radio presenter Mwalimu Rachel expressed her excitement after being awarded the Silver plaque after hitting 100,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel dubbed Mwalimu Rachel TV.

The former Homeboyz radio presenter took to her Instagram page to thank her fans for the support that they have given her throughout the years.

She went on to thank the most entertaining Gengetone group Sailors Gang for believing in her when they came to her with their first Gengetone song dubbed Wamlambez which has already hit over five million views on YouTube. She added that she cannot wait for the group which has already 74, 000 YouTube subscribers to hit the mark and be awarded the Silver plaque.

When Sailors Gang came to limelight with its first hit song, it was uploaded of Mwalimu Rachel’s YouTube channel and so did the rest of the songs. This action led to the group’s fans claiming that the radio presenter was taking advantage of it but both parties cleared the air on why the songs were being uploaded on that channel. In 2019, Sailors Gang opened its own YouTube channel and started posting its songs.

The awards which are commonly known as YouTube Creators Awards or YouTube Play Buttons are divided into four categories. The Silver Creator Award which given awarded to channels that reach or surpass 100,000 subscribers, the Gold Creator Award which is awarded to channels that reach or surpass one million subscribers. The Diamond Creator Award that is given to channels that hit or surpass 10, 000,000 subscribers and lastly the Custom Creator Award which is awarded to channels that hit or surpass 50,000,000 subscribers.

Early this year, Mwalimu Rachel found herself in hot soup after she was reported to have assaulted an upcoming artist by the name Peter Mbugua who was Sailors Gang’s lead singer Peter Miracle Baby’s best friend. Peter claimed that Mwalimu Rachel together with her accomplices squeezed his balls and pulled his two long dreadlocks while threatening him.

Mwalimu Rachel was reported to have accused the upcoming artists of “taking Miracle Baby” away leading to them losing a whooping Ksh. 10 million deal. Mwalimu Rachel was later arraigned in court and charged with robbery with violence having been reported to have stolen Mbugua’s possessions worth Ksh. 103,000
