Former Homeboyz Radio presenter Shaffie Weru has revealed that most of his friends abandoned him after losing his job in March.
Homeboyz radio fired Shaffie Weru, and his two co-hosts after their comments on his show went viral and triggered Kenyans. The station claimed that the comments were an egregious breach of the company’s editorial policies. Several people faulted the radio hosts for shaming a victim of sexual violence.
Shaffie said that most of his close friends did not stand by him.
“Most of the people I expected to stand by me or have my back walked away. However, I am not judging. Some of them used to handle my businesses, and I used to hang with others daily when I was ‘The Reverend’. I am not a foreseer to know that something like this would have happened,” Shaffie said.
Shaffie noted that the only time people can separate the wheat from the chaff is when they are in trouble. Additionally, he said he would never devote 18 years of his life to another company the way he did at Homeboyz radio.
Following his exit, the radio presenter said that he would only do whatever was good for him in the future.
