- Funny women Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer and Regina Hall are the chosen hosts for this year’s Oscars set for March 27, 2022
- The three seasoned hosts are expected to rock the awards, which have not had any hosts since 2019 after Kevin Hart walked away from them amid controversy
- Schumer led the MTV Movie Awards in 2015 while Hall presided over the 2019 BET Award and Sykes is a renowned comedian who also hosted the GLAAD Media Awards
After months of speculation, it seems girl power will rule at the Oscars this year as the hosting duties have been assigned to Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer, and Regina Hall.
Announcement made on Tuesday
Amy Schumer made the announcement on Tuesday, effectively ending speculation on the hosting of the 94th Academy Awards.
“Good morning America I’m not sure who thought this was a good idea, but I am hosting the Oscars along with my good friends Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall,” Schumer said in a video shown on the during the “Good Morning America” telecast.
“I better go watch some movies,” she added.
Debut all-women show
While this is not the first time more than one person will host the job, it will be the debut all-women team to run the show.
Attendees at the event will be in for some laughs as Sykes, Schumer and Hall, are experienced hosts and quite the comedians as well.
“My first foursome. @iamwandasykes @amyschumer and Oscar. It’s gonna be a great night! Thank you @theacademy and @willpowerpacker for making it happen!” said Hall.
Schumer, for instance, led the MTV Movie Awards in 2015 while Hall presided over the 2019 BET Awards.

Kevin Hart recused him
Sykes is a household name with own talk show, GLAAD Media Awards, guesting hosting for Jimmy Kimmel and Ellen DeGeneres being some of the feathers in her cap.
The past three Oscars have not had any hosts; a trend that began in 2019 when Kevin Hart recused himself amid much controversy.
The Oscars will be held on March 27.
Oscars slightly different in 2021
Last year’s Oscars were slightly different with the Academy making several adjustments to because of the COVID -19 effects.
For instance, it was split into two events and held two months late without a host.
At the awards, Nomadland picked up three awards topping the night with other great films following with two awards each.
The surprise of the night came in the form of Anthony Hopkins, who beat the late Chadwick Boseman to bag the Best Actor award.
