The downward trend of new infections in Kenya continues after the country hit a new low in new infections.
Over the past 24 hours, Kenya reported 83 new COVID cases. This was the lowest the figure had sank since 23rd June (59 cases).
Tests, recoveries and deaths
The Health Ministry said that the new samples came from 3,093 samples, a prevalence rate of 2.6 %.
Cumulative COVID cases in Kenya now stands at 35,103, while cumulative samples rise to 474,477.
There were three more fatalities, raising the death toll in Kenya to 597, a CFR of 1.7 %.
Recoveries, meanwhile, rose by 72, now putting cumulative recoveries in the country at 21, 230. 39 of the day’s recoveries were from HBC, while the other 33 were from various hospitals nationally.
Nairobi, as is wont, led with 27 cases, while Busia, seeing a spike, held second place today, reporting 15 cases. Kisumu also reported a double digit rise, with 12 cases.
Machakos and Nakuru, on the other hand, had seven cases each. Kiambu had five, Laikipa and Kisii three each, while Kirinyaga, Uasin Gishu, Nyandarua and Mombasa had four cases each.
Cumulative cases in counties
Nairobi continues to lead, reporting 56 % of Kenya’s cases. The city has 19,776 total COVID cases.
Kiambu sits in second place, with 2,575 cases, while Mombasa is third with 2,458.
Kajiado has 1,895 confirmed COVID cases, while Machakos now has 1,267.
Busia, which saw the highest rise of cases outside Nairobi today, now has 1,159, as Nakuru comes in with 892.
The gap the is wide between Nakuru and Uasin Gishu, with UG reporting 498 cases. Migori has 443, while Garissa has 311. Kisumu has 301, Nyeri 281, Kericho 264 while Laikipia climbs to 235.
Then, there is Narok, which has 232, with Kisii rising to 191 and Kilifi remaining at 181. Murang’a has 172, Makueni 159, Kitui 148 and Taita Taveta has 142.
Turkana remains on 127, while Bomet comes in with 126, Lamu 113, Embu at 100 and Kirinyaga rising to 86.
Meru, meanwhile, has 83, Trans Nzoia 79, Kwale 73 and Nandi 71. Siaya has 69, Kakamega 65, while Homa Bay has 63.
Isiolo has 60, Nyandarua rising to 55, Samburu 49, Baringo 46 and Bungoma sitting at 45.
Tharaka Nithi has 40, Wajir 38, Vihiga 29, Mandera 28, Nyamira and Tana River each reporting 25.
Marsabit has 18, while Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot each has seven cases.
