Coconut oil serves to lose weight, regulate cholesterol, diabetes, improve the heart system and even immunity. To make virgin coconut oil at home, which despite being more labor intensive, is cheaper and of high quality, just follow the recipe:
- 3 glasses of coconut water
- 2 brown shell coconuts cut into pieces
Method of preparation
Mix all ingredients in a blender. Then strain the mixture and place the liquid part in a bottle, in a dark environment, for 48 hours. After this period, leave the bottle in a cool environment, without light or sun, at an average temperature of 25ºC for another 6 hours.
After this time, the bottle should be placed in the refrigerator, standing up, for another 3 hours. The coconut oil will solidify and, to remove it, you must cut the plastic bottle on the line where the water and oil were separated, using only the oil, which must be transferred to another container with a lid.
Coconut oil will be ready to use when it becomes liquid, at a temperature above 27ºC. It does not need to be refrigerated and has a shelf life of 2 years.
In order for homemade coconut oil to work and maintain its medicinal properties, each step described above must be strictly followed.
