Pediatrician explains why reading should be part of the child’s routine
Even after completing their first year of life, some babies may still be just crawling. Until 18 months, this scenario is considered normal. However, according to pediatrician Talita Rizzini, up to a year and a half, walking must be acquired.
The child has a great desire to explore the environment, imitate adults, understand the functioning of language and start to communicate more effectively and seek their autonomy in the proposed activities.
Therefore, with a year and a month the vocabulary begins to expand. The specialist says that at this stage the child is expected to know up to six words. This is because this is a period of great intellectual development.
At this age the child is already able to follow the family’s diet, but it is very important that it is healthy and balanced, avoiding the consumption of ultra-processed foods and sugar intake.
Bet on toys that can work fine motor coordination and that encourage action and reaction, such as blocks, shapes and balls. Reading remains a fundamental routine activity to stimulate the child’s language development, in addition to allowing him to explore his imagination.
