COVID-19 cases in Kenya have risen above 10,000 after 379 more people tested positive for the virus.
The new cases now bring the total number of infections in the country to 10,105.
Samples, recoveries and deaths
The Ministry of Health confirmed the new cases from a sample of 7,050, which seems to be from a backlog of samples. Thus, it may not be what the Ministry did over the past 24 hours.
The new samples now take the total number of samples to 215,037.
One more person succumbed, raising the total number of deaths to 185.
Furthermore, 49 more people recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,881.
Infection by counties
Nairobi continues to lead in infections, reporting 209 of today’s total.
Kiambu had the second-highest number, reporting 49, Busia has 38 while Migori had 19.
Mombasa had 16, Kajiado 12 while Uasin Gishu reported eight cases. Lamu had six, while Machakos and Nakuru came in with five cases each. Narok, Wajir, Kisumu, all had two cases. Garissa, Isiolo, Kericho, Nyamira, Nyeri and Trans-Nzoia counties all had one case each.
Infections in Sub-counties
Nairobi’s cases were in Kibra (52), Lang’ata (45), Kamukunji (28), Dagoretti North and Makadara (17 each). Embakasi Central had 9, Embakasi East, 8, Westlands,7, Dagoretti South, Kasarani, Roysambu and Embakasi West each had 4 cases each. Ruaraka, Embakasi South each had 2 cases, while Mathare and Starehe had one case each.
Kiambu’s cases were in Ruiru (16), Kiambu Town (15), Lari (7), Kikuyu (4), Limuru and Thika two each. Gatundu South, Kabete and Kiambaa had one case each.
Busia’s cases were in Teso North (18), Matayos (15) and Teso South (5).
Migori’s cases were in Suna East and Kura East, 7 each, and Kuria West, 5.
Mombasa’s cases were in Mvita,9, Jomvu, 4, Nyali,2 and Likoni,1.
Kajiado’s cases were in Kajiado East,7, and Kajiado North,3 and Kajiado Central, 2.
Uasin Gishu’s cases were all in Turbo.
Lamu’s cases were in Lamu West while Machakos had cases in Kathiani,3, and Athi River,2.
Nakuru’s five cases were in Naivasha,4 and Nakuru West,1.
Narok has 2 cases in Narok North while Wajir’s cases were in Wajir East. Nyamira had 1 case in town, while Nyeri had 1 case in Kieni. Trans-Nzoia, meanwhile, had 1 case in Kiminini.
