US sets new record for coronavirus deaths in one day: 1,480

The total number in the country already reaches 7,406 and the most affected place is New York City. There are 276,995 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the United States, the country most affected in the world by the disease.

The United States on Friday recorded nearly 1,500 deaths from coronavirus in one day, setting a new world record, according to a count by Johns Hopkins University.

With 1,480 deaths between Thursday and Friday at 8:30 pm local time, the total number of deaths in the country since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 7,406, according to the university’s balance sheet.

The number represents a jump from the record set the day before, also by the USA, when 1,169 deaths were registered.

Before, the previous peak for a day had taken place in Italy, where 969 people died on March 27. The European country is still the country with the most deaths in total, with 14,681, followed by Spain, which has 11,198.

The highest number of deaths in the United States was recorded in New York City.

Also according to Johns Hopkins, on Friday night there are 276,995 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the United States, the country most affected in the world by the disease.
