It is uncertain how the current Covid-19 pandemic will end. However, one thing that is for sure is that our work activities will change. The virus has completely messed up the timelines. Most companies and organisations had to close down following the government directives.
Getting back on track may prove to be a bit difficult. Projects stalled, and everyone is focused on staying safe during this pandemic.
With so much uncertainty, you might get anxious and feel like your career has hit the wall. However, there are a few things you can do during this quarantine period that can help you stay positive and focused.
Stay connected to your networks.
The government only discourages close physical interaction. This doesn’t mean you can not stay connected to people in your network. Send emails and make phone calls to check on them. This will help you stay focused on your career.
Do some work-related tasks each day.
Lazying around all day every day won’t do you any good. Whether or not you are actively employed during this period, set some time aside to do work-related activities each day.
You can even search for an online job that will keep you busy. Alternatively, take free online courses that will give you a career boost when you resume work.
Stay active online
If you are one of those people that permanently mute group notifications or just never engage with people on online groups, now is the time to unmute them and try interacting with people.
These are unfamiliar times, and people share a lot of information online. Online groups will help you stay updated.
Be kind to yourself
No one has everything figured out at this point, so don’t be too hard on yourself. The pandemic has impacted everyone’s career in one way or another. Don’t be too anxious. None of this is your fault. Be kind to yourself.
