WHO advises against “hasty” travel restrictions because of new South African variant


WHO will meet this Friday with a group of experts to assess the seriousness of the new variant and will shortly share its findings.

After Italy and Germany banned the entry of people from southern Africa and after the European Commission proposed the suspension of flights from that geographical area to the European Union (EU), the World Health Organization (WHO) said that these restrictive measures are hasty and it advises against them.
