Malindi Member of Parliament Aish Jumwa has found herself on the wrong side of her party; National Super Alliance (NASA) after she found herself among the seven lawmakers who were axed from all Parliamentary House Committees.
Other legislators who are set to be shown the door are Bungoma Woman Rep Catherine Wambilianga, Tindi Mwale (Butere), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Sylvanus Osoro (South Mugirango), Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango) and Nakara Lodepe (Turkana Central).
House Minority Chief Whip Hon. Junet Mohamed disclosed that the meeting which is set to take place on Thursday 27 will revolve around two key issues; Parliamentary leadership and committee leadership of the NASA coalition.
He stated that the meeting would see serious action taken to members of the coalition who had not performed as expected for the last two years.
He explained that the members who have been highlighted were the ones who were not subscribing to the values and ideals of the Nasa coalition.
The Minority Chief Whip humorously stated that the axed leaders would be quarantined for six months before the party could review its decision. Trans Nzoia ODM leaders have shown their support to Caleb Amisi urging the party’s leadership top to hand him the Deputy Minority Whip position.
In a statement, the leaders led by County Steering Committee Chairman John Otieno, the leaders asserted that if the current Deputy Chief Whip Chris Wamalwa is supporting Deputy President William Ruto, he should be removed from the position and Amasi should take the wheel.
“We want Amasi to be handed this position and then the rest can follow. If Wamalwa is to be removed for supporting Deputy President William Ruto, then the position has to go to our man,” Otieno stressed out.
“We have heard that some people have gone to Party Leader Raila Odinga behind closed doors to angling for the likes of Eseli Simiyum Wafula Wamunyinyi or the Kwanza MP to take up posts. This cannot happen,” he added.
