2 suspects arrested by DCI detectives in connection with violent crimes in Vihiga County

Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives have arrested two suspects; Samuel Mwangi alias Opicha and Francis Apeli in connection with violent crimes in Vihiga.

The two are believed to be part of a 4-man gang that have given Vihiga residents sleepless nights for a while.

They are also prime suspects in cold blood murders of 54-year-old Allan Amadi and Gideon Habwe who were killed in June.

According to the detectives, on June 10, the gang armed with crude weapons, attacked and killed Allan Amadi at Bei Bora Agrovet within Kima market.

Amadi, who was a security guard, was hit on the head with a blunt object and died on the spot.

The second victim, Gideon Habwe, was attacked by the gang members on June 16. They stole a mobile phone from him and inflicted him with severe injuries which led to his death while undergoing treatment.

The detectives, attached to Luanda Police Station earlier in the week arrested two other suspects believed to be part of the gang in a separate incident. 33-year-old John Ngota Etole and 30-year-old Gilbert Ngota Asitiva were picked from their hideout in Asikote village, Emuhaya.

Mobile phones, sim cards, hammers, pliers, chisels and an axe were recovered from the hideout. The suspects are in police custody awaiting arraignment in court.
