It’s too late to promise Kenyans heaven, DP Ruto tells Raila

Deputy President Ruto on Monday told ODM leader Raila Odinga that it is too late to promise heaven to Kenyans.

Ruto said Raila has been a Prime Minister and has previously held powerful government positions for several years but did nothing to help the electorate.

He said a number of his competitors, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and others have done nothing for the governments they have served.

“You are all aware that the people I am competing with have previously served as Prime Ministers, Deputy Prime Ministers and even vice presidents but they cannot account for a single development they have done in this country,” he said.

He said it is too late for Raila to start promising Kenyans a new era of leadership and opportunities which he would not give them when he was Prime minister.

He said it is time for him (Ruto) to fulfill what other leaders, including Raila never did to Kenyans many years back.

“We all know some leaders do not have Kenyans at heart. They are only focusing on leadership positions without having the factor of development and uniting Kenyans in mind,” Ruto said.

He spoke during a tour of Nyamira county.

Ruto was accompanied by West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi, North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko, Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose and Former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara.

Others included former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati, South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro and businessman Don Bosco Gichana.

Osoro told off Raila, saying he has not been able to make it to the presidency hence should not keep promising Kenyans a lot.

He said he will not be able to do so as the DP has already taken the mantle seemingly with the kind of support across the country.

“Many days back we fully supported Raila hoping he would unite Kenyans. Shockingly, he is telling us about his idea of amending the Constitution for his own good,” Osoro said.

“This will not happen, because we gave him the time to develop and unite the country, which he never did.”

He also condemned a section of Gusii leaders who he said are misleading the Gusii community into following and supporting Raila.

Osoro said the former PM’s time is over and the mantle of leadership should now be handed to DP Ruto.

“Most of our leaders in our community have been heard in various forums trying to convince our people to support the ODM leader. What has he done to deserve our support as a community?”

“We will support someone who comes and supports us through small-scale traders and other income-generating projects, not someone who keeps promising us blank futures,” Osoro said.
