Kilifi county Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi has been placed under forced quarantine after failing to isolate himself as per the government’s directives regarding the coronavirus crisis.
The governor allegedly entered the country last week after traveling from Germany and failed to comply with the set measures of one self-isolating for a period of 14 days.
Saburi was allegedly seen in the streets two days ago before the 14-day isolation limit. Residents who saw the deputy county boss raised concerns on why the county government was not taking action.
Unconfirmed reports have detailed that Saburi was arrested and taken to an isolation ward after failing to adhere to the government’s directive which requires all citizens and non-citizens entering the country to self-isolate for 14 days.
More details about the arrest and forceful quarantine have not been released, but people who had close contact with the deputy governor including his driver have been isolated and are being monitored.
Kilifi county residents took stands in criticizing the leader for failing to observe simple measures which puts lives in danger.
Saburi was a member of the County Executive Committee in charge of Roads, Transport and Public Works Department before taking the deputizing role under Governor Amason Kingi.
