Man surrenders to police officers, confesses to killing his wife and her lover

A 40 year old man, only identified as Lorumeta, went to a Karuna Police Station, a murderous look in his eyes and bloody machete in his hand. Lorumeta then started talking incoherently, saying he had killed his wife.

Lorumeta allegedly went home to find his wife in bed with one of his friends. Without thinking, he grabbed a machete and killed them both in cold blood, then went straight to the police station to surrender.

Residents of Karuna village in Moiben Sub-county are still in shock. Several neighbors seem to be aware of the love triangle. Apparently, Lorumeta’s wife had a steaming love affair with her husband’s friend.

A resident confirmed that Lorumeta and his friend both worked as casual laborers at Kaptebei Farm.

When Lorumeta surrendered to the police, several locals who had gone to the police station on different issues scampered to safety. Police officers took the murder weapon from the suspect and locked him up in the cells.

Asked why he killed his wife and friend, Lorumeta simply said that he was fed up with his wife’s extra-marital affairs.

Ayub Ali, the County Police Commander , confirmed the incident. He said that officers had taken the bopdies of Cheruiyot Lomorian and Nancy Cheruto to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary. The police boss revealed that both bodies had deep cuts. Additionally, he said that they are waiting for the postmortem report.

Mr Ali said that officers are yet to unveil the motive of the two murders. He also said that they are investigating the matter in order to establish the facts. The police boss said that they would arraign the suspect in court once they complete the investigations.

Asked why they cannot rely on the confession of the suspect, Mr Ali explained that they will only consider the confession once they conduct in-depth investigations. He noted that for now, they are not sure of the motive.
