Trans Nzoia county government has banned Boda Boda operators from accessing Kitale Town as a way of decongesting the Town.
The County Governor Patrick Khaemba has also announced that non-essential businesses will not be allowed to operate. Businesses such as barbershops and Salons within the region are expected to close down as part of social distancing guidelines in the fight against Coronavirus.
The businesses which have been forced to close were categorized in the list of those that cannot achieve the 1-metre rule.
“We have banned all Boda Boda riders from accessing Kitale town and closed down non-essential businesses in a move to decongest the town to reduce human traffic to achieve social distancing,” Khaemba said.
Chiefs and assistant chiefs have been advised to work towards limiting burials to 15 people. The burials are expected to be done in within 24 hours after death occurs.
Traders in the Kitale Town have been requested to close down their businesses this Saturday to allow the County Government disinfect the town.
Khaemba said spraying the town with disinfectants will help contain the spread of the virus. He urged the residents to support the county in the initiative.
The Country has already confirmed 38 cases with health Cabinet secretary Mutahi Kagwe noting that the number is likely to shoot once mass screen in done. He has advised the citizens to observe social distancing.
