Jubilee party vice-chairman David Murathe urged Kenyans to prepare for Raila’s presidency come 2022.
Murathe further likened Raila gaining the power to when Nelson Mandela gained control in South Africa. The vice-chair was speaking at an interview with KTN, where he compared the presidential bid to South Africa’s freedom quest.
According to him, Kenyans should reward former prime minister Raila. He further explained that Mr. Odinga had done a lot for Kenya, and the citizens owed him.
“We think it’s time Kenyans rewarded the years of struggle of Raila Amollo Odinga. They owe it to him. It’s like Mandela, and 2022 will be a Mandela Moment.”
Murathe also urged Raila to act as a transitional president, paving the way for the younger generation.
“And we would also like to tell him (Raila) to be a transitional president who will then nurture the young generation to take over in 2027.”
Murathe also assured Raila of his vote come 2022. According to him, the only way he will not vote for Raila is if he does not vie for the presidency. He further added that his decision is similar to what Mt. Kenya people will choose.
“I personally, and this is not going to be misunderstood, I am going to vote for Raila Amollo Odinga as the president of Kenya. Unless, of course, he decides not to run, and he proposes someone else. Unless, of course, he and the president have agreed not to run and back somebody like Matiang’ i and Kalonzo. For now, if he is running, and we are going to go down to Mt. Kenya, it is Raila Amollo Odinga.”
Murathe’s statements sparked social media with netizens taking the discussion on twitter, where it trended for the better part of the day.
Politician Nick Salat was among those who commented on the matter. He also predicted that the Jubilee party might also unveil Gideon Moi, and Kenyans should watch out.
“Yesterday David Murathe fired the first bullet by endorsing RT Raila Odinga for 2022 presidency. No one should dare ignore David Murathe. There are still more bullets to be released; his Excellency Gideon Moi will be the next unfolding. Good day.”
