DP Ruto responds after late Kenei’s father slammed him for going silent since burying his son

Deputy President William Ruto has responded to late Kipyegon Kenei’s father John Chesang after he called him out for going silent since he buried his son who was mysteriously killed almost one year ago and used to work in his office.

Speaking in an interview with Citizen TV, the DP while dragging Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i aide, Police Constable Hudson Wakise said that several incidents where police officers commit suicide have been reported recently.

Wakise was reported to have killed his wife before turning the gun on himself.

Ruto however, said that he was not suggesting that Keni might have committed suicide rather than being brutally murdered as reported by the investigation officers but he was putting all cards on the table.

The second in command asserted that he had been upfront with the late Kenei’s family and he had recently learned that he was related to a close Cabinet Secretary who is one of his closest friends.

He urged Kenei’s family to be patient with relevant agencies to probe the case while also advising the police to stop creating unnecessary drama and politics.

“These matters happen. I saw the other day an officer killing his wife and turning the gun on himself. A lot of issues and incidences occur and police do not have to create unnecessary drama and politics but investigate the case,” he said.

Ruto stated that when Kenei’s murder happened, he called the relevant agencies and told them to get to the bottom of the matter.

He added that people have been trying to sell theories to the family for political reasons.

He added that just like the family and other Kenyans, he also wants the case to be solved as he believes in justice and that no life should be lost in the same manner as Kenei’s.

A few days ago while speaking in an interview with KTN News, Kenei’s father John Chesang said that the DP had done nothing since his son’s death and only made empty promises.

He added that his family was still hurting since his late son worked in DP’s Harambee House Annex office for over seven years and he was just going about his business.

He stressed out that his son should be given the respect he deserves.

He also revealed that Kenei unsuccessfully tried to leave the office twice because he was a Tugen and most of his colleagues were Nandis and this made him experience challenges at his workplace.
