Drama as man interrupts Chebukati’s speech at Bomas

A dramatic incident unfolded at the Bomas Of Kenya after a man interrupted IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati’s speech.

The man is reported to have acted so in a show of protest against political leaders who he accused of “lying” to Kenyans.

The man was heard ranting;

” They have stolen our future….they have stolen our country, our future… we cannot continue being treated as slaves in our own country…we must stand up now and fight for the truth as we know it.”

Police acted swiftly to contain the situation by whisking the man out of the venue.

The IEBC Chairman was meeting presidential aspirants to discuss the August 9 polls, ahead of their clearance.

Chebukati is the returning officer of Presidential Elections. IEBC officials across the country have been meeting political aspirants to discuss the forthcoming elections.

During the Monday meeting, Presidential Aspirants were required to present 2,000 signatures in each of the majority counties.

According to the general election regulations gazetted by Chebukati on January 20, the clearance of aspirants will be run from May 29 to June 7..
