Drop the tiring numbers in your daily briefings and tell us how to live with the virus – Citizen TV news anchor calls out Ministry of Health

Citizen TV news anchor Joe Ageyo has called out the Ministry of Health stating that they should stop giving Kenyans the daily briefings on cases of COVID-19 numbers and give them a sector by sector practical steps on what it means to live with the virus.

While appearing on New Gang on Thursday 30 July 2020, Joe Ageyo went back to a statement the Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi made in May regarding the virus.

Joe stated that the Ministry of Health made a statement a while back about the virus not going anywhere anytime soon while might be a prophecy.

“It must have been the Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi who told us something we know now. She said the novel Coronavirus was going to be with for a long time adding that we needed now to learn how to live with it. Well, that was in May and at that time Kenya had less than 1000 cases and no one had died from Coronavirus related ailments,” he said.

Joe Ageyo noted that the first part of the Ministry of Health had already passed and the virus had been showing every sign of been around for a long time.

He went on to question if Kenyans had really learnt how to live with COVID-19 and where it was even possible.

The celebrated news anchor mentioned that at first, the MOH gave announced a raft of measures that were aimed a checking the spread of the virus that was only at the time coming into the country as imported cases.

“It is the Ministry of Health that told us to learn how to live with the virus. Shouldn’t it have been them who should have told us how to do it? Ladies and gentlemen tonight I submit to the Ministry of Health should perhaps cut down if not altogether drop their tiring numbers in their daily statements and focus a little bit more on giving us a sector by sector personal practical steps on what it means to live with the virus,” he said.
