A senior police officer is in custody after shooting and killing a security guard in Nairobi.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCIO) at Embakasi Nairobi, Mr Simon Mutia Mwongela, was arrested on Thursday after a shooting incident.
Before the shooting, the police allegedly engaged in an altercation with the guard who was manning Masimba lodging in Kayole.
According to witnesses, Mwongeli arrived at the lodging around 4 am and directed the security guard to open the gate.
The guard died instantly after the DCI officers shot him in the chest.
“The accused visited the club in the morning and demanded to get in. After he was denied entry, the DCIO shot one bullet that hit the watchman in the chest,” narrated a police officer who was present at the scene.
Hillary Mutyambai, the Inspector-General of Police, said there are ongoing investigations regarding the shooting.
