Deputy President William Ruto delivered a hard-hitting speech aiming at his political enemies on Thursday the 15th of October while at a rally in Nyamira.
In his address, Ruto was clearly aggrieved that the police had cancelled three of his rallies. The police had explained that Ruto’s rallies were susceptible to violence.
This was after violence marred his Kenol, Murang’a county visit. Consequently, the police cancelled his tours to Murang’a, Kakamega and Nyamira.
Clearly displeased, Ruto branded individuals who cancelled his rallies as fools. He further labelled them as tribalists who were against Kenyans uniting.
“These policemen have no problem. The problem is the people who live in the ivory tower who don’t know the problem that some people are going through,” Ruto said.
“Those who are trying to stop my tour to Kisii are ‘fools’. Such people are tribalists.”
DP Ruto also took a jab at the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI). He went on to claim that the BBI report does not solve issues affecting common citizens.
Ruto went on to explain that the BBI will only benefit specific established individuals in the government, further citing the Prime Minister position.
“They are telling us to keep politicking on matters of Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, but we want to talk about issues affecting Boda Boda and vegetable vendors,” Ruto addressed the crowd.
“They want to start at the top, but we are demanding we begin with issues affecting citizens.”
The DP went on to add that if the government empowers the lower class, then the middle class will also be able to get empowered.
Ruto was speaking while at the Sironga Stadium where he was visiting the Nyamira South Boda Boda Sacco for an empowerment programme.
On Thursday the 8th of October, Ruto cancelled his Nyamira trip after violence marred the tour.
