French doctors propose Africans as test subjects for COVID-19 treatment

Two racist French doctors have called for testing of COVID-19 treatment and vaccines on the African people.

Dr. Mira and Dr. Locht were in a TV interview when they made the remarks, equating it to when HIV treatment experiments were conducted on prostitutes, which was also unethical.

‘Exposed’ Africans

The two doctors, in their blissful moment of unhinged racism, said they believed the continent had no masks and protection and thus we were ‘exposed’. Thus, the interpretation was that we were objects to be used for test trials, disposable.

Using humans as test subjects without their consent is unethical.

According to a translation by Rim-Sarah Alouane, the two doctors stated that they were seriously thinking about the approach. She then called out the fact that no one bothered to counter the doctor’s arguments, a peek into normalized racism.

“If I can be provocative, shouldn’t we do this study in Africa, where there are no masks, no treatment, no resuscitation, a bit like it has been done in some studied in AIDS, where among prostitutes, we try things, because they are exposed, and they don’t protect themselves, what do you think?” Dr Mira poses.

Dr Locht agreed.

“So you are right[…] we’re thinking in parallel to a study in Africa precisely to make this same type of approach w/BCG [vaccine] placebo, I think there is a call for tenders that were released or that will be released & I think we will indeed seriously think about that too.”

Africa has the lowest infections in the world

The unfortunate opinions come even as Africa lags in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases. In fact, the US leads with over 200,000 confirmed cases. While testing largely remains low in Africa, there is little to suggest that the continent has reached the red zone yet.

The dehumanization from the two French doctors did not escape the netizens. People came out with guns blazing to criticize the bigoted views coming from people who should know better.
