Governors from the Mt. Kenya region met with President Uhuru Kenyatta in preparation for the Sagana event that will take place on Saturday. At the same time, ODM leader Raila Odinga took the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) campaigns to Kiambu County.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga have intensified campaigns of the Constitution Amendment bill. Both of them are trying to gather support from across the country as the BBI enters a crucial stage. County assemblies will soon debate and vote for or against the Constitution Amendment Bill.
President Uhuru Kenyatta met the Governors on two consecutive days; Tuesday and Wednesday. They are working on a plan to counter Deputy President William Ruto’s fast-rising support.
“The President was categorical that this will not be a one-off visit but a long sustained campaign to ensure political sanity and peace. We will also be explaining the benefits of BBI to our people in a sustained campaign,” one Governor who attended the meeting revealed.
The Sagana event
President Uhuru Kenyatta will meet Mt. Kenya leaders at a major event in Sagana State Lodge over the weekend. The meeting is reportedly strategically aiming at rallying support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) in the Mt. Kenya region.
Meanwhile, Raila Odinga addressed successful roadside rallies at Githurai market and Roysambu roundabout. He then headed to Githurai 45 where there was a slight hiccup as a section of youths jeered him when he wanted to address them. Police officers managed to disperse the unruly youth and Rail addressed the rest of them.
