Award-winning Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones has urged Deputy President William Ruto to help Kenyans to reach his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta so that they can plead with him to open up the country.
The Mi Siogopi rapper was responding to the second in command’s message telling him that the country’s entertainers were just a section of the people suffering from the current lockdown.
“While I appreciate your response on the issue at hand, and the plight of creatives in our country, I urge you to really help us talk to His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta to open up the country,” read his message in part.
The rapper argued that many sectors had been affected by the current situation which is now becoming unbearable.
He added that Kenyans understand that the government imposed measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 but they should do so having everyone in mind.
Khaligraph Jones pleaded with William Ruto to negotiate a way in which the Kenyans can mitigate the spread of COVID-19 while at the same time protect their livelihoods.
He maintained that Kenyans only have one plea to the President which is to open up the country.
Earlier on, Jones had reached out to DP William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga asking them to convince the President to re-open the country as Kenyans were suffering.
While addressing Raila Odinga, the rapper reminded him how a while back he used to defend Kenyans but now he had gone quiet yet Kenyans were suffering.
Jones went on to tell the former Prime Minister to do something and Kenyans will make him the next President.
The Tuma Kitu rapper told DP Ruto that Kenyans were going hungry and landlords locking their houses.
He noted that if the DP helps them with the situation, he would campaign for him for free in the coming general elections as he eyes the presidential seat.
The DP responded by telling the rapper that he also knows the pain of sleeping hungry.
He added that as a personal initiative, he is ready to help as he together with those in the government complement government programs on the same.
He said that he will also mobilize his friends to get some more so that they can help out.
He told the rapper that if gets time on his schedule, he could also talk to his fellow artists and others on how they can donate food for those affected by the lockdown at the moment.
