Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho has dared Deputy President William Ruto to set foot in the coastal region in a bid to campaign for his preferred candidate for Msambweni Constituency.
The County boss, who was speaking after the ODM party candidate Omar Boga was cleared by IEBC to vie for the position, stated that their chosen candidate had a great vision of the Constituency.
He added that ODM party members were ready to vehemently defend the position.
He went to point that he will not allow anyone from the ‘outside’ to play with the coast region not even William Ruto and his allies.
He stressed out that the DP was a coward as he has been sending his people to campaign for his preferred candidate.
He went on to challenge him to man up and step foot in Mombasa and face his rivals.
“I will not allow anyone to even imagine that they can come and play with our region. So be it William Ruto na watu wake, in fact, he is such a coward anatuma watu wake. Kama ni mwanaume aje hapa, acamp hapa tumuonyeshe what we are made of. Ajue ile kitu tumeumbwa. Tumuonyeshe kwamba sisi hatuchezewi na sio mchezo.”
“If you are a man, my friend, don’t play Msambweni politics in Nairobi, in Karen posting pictures. Come here tukutane mundu ku mundu (man to man),” he said.
Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed tore into William Ruto pointing out that the country at the moment has no Deputy President and Ruto and his allies should stop lying to people that he is still the second in command.
Their attacks come a day after IEBC cleared Feisal Abdallah Bader, who is an independent candidate.
About 11 candidates are expected to be cleared by IEBC to contest for the parliamentary seat.
Four of them are independent candidates, while seven are from various political parties.
The seat fell vacant in March after the late Suleiman Dori died while undergoing treatment in Aga khan hospital, Mombasa County.
