Kakamega clinic on the spotlight after forcibly injecting minors with contraceptives

A family in Kakamega is bitter after a local healthcare facility forcibly injected their teenage daughter with contraceptives without their consent.

The family further demands justice for their teenage daughter and her friends, who underwent the procedure.

According to the girl, a nurse from the facility lured her and her friends to the health centre. On reaching there, she instructed them to get on the beds before she injected them with family planning drugs.

The girl also explains that she was headed to the Emusanda Health facility in Lurambi to receive sanitary towels. However, the nurse, despite promising them, did not hand them the sheets and instead injected them.

Donald Indimuli, the girl’s father, complained that he has been receiving threats from some of the villagers.

“Nimeanza kupokea vitisho kutoka jamii baada ya kuripoti kesiā€¦. Leo nimeenda polisi kureport the same juu ya vitisho na sieleiwi shida ni gani na hii shida ya familly planning.”

Mzee Indimuli explained that three girls, including his daughter, were teenagers aged 16, 15 and 12. He went on to explain that the nurse is famous in the village and so the girls did not suspect her.

“Nlikuwa barabarani nkichunga ngombe aunty Getrude akasema twende, nikatoka kwa barabara tukiwa na wenzangu tukaenda, kufika huko, wakasema twende kwa kitanda wakatudunga na kusema hii ni family planning,” the girl said.

The teenage girl also explained that the contraceptive would protect them from pregnancy for three years.

They discussed their sexuality.

The girl also revealed that the nurse asked them about their sexual love.

“Walianza kuuliza wangapi wako na more than ten boys, mimi nikasema apana sina wengine wakasema wako na wawili wengine mmoja, wakatuambia tunaweza kuwa na two boys ndio ukikosana na huyu unaenda kwa huyu,” she explained.

However, the hospital removed the contraceptive from Mzee Indimuli’s daughter after he reported the matter.

Other parents also complained and want the doctors arrested.
