Karanja Kibicho, the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, has recorded a statement at DCI headquarters. The PS presented himself at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters after Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko made serious allegations against him.
The former Governor made the allegations while speaking at a public rally in Dagoretti South on Sunday, 24th January. Sonko alleged that Kibicho, together with other state officials, was responsible for the chaos in the country after the 2017 general elections.
Sonko said that the ‘system’ and the ‘deep state’ had something to do with the chaos the country faced after the elections in 2017.
Additionally, the former Nairobi Governor said that Kibicho took part in planning the chaos. He claimed that the plan was to make the ODM party look like the culprits.
“The deep state and system have started burning vehicles so that they can blame hustlers for the chaos,” Sonko alleged.
Kibicho recorded a statement to counter the serious allegations that Sonko made. The recorded statement will pave the way for further investigations into the matter.
Legal experts revealed that if the DCI decides to press charges against Kibicho, Sonko will become a witness. One expert explained that Kibicho had to record a statement because he is a state-appointed official, and therefore, Sonko’s utterances bear legal consequences.
