Magufuli open to offer Kenyan ambassador a job if he relocates to Tanzania

Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli has expressed his desire to offer Kenyan Ambassador to Tanzania Dan Kazungu a job if he relocates to the country.

The President heaped praise on the ambassador during an event at his official residence on Thursday 21, March 2020, stating that he was moved with the way Kazungu defended his country as both Kenya and Tanzania went head to head as diplomatic “war” heated up.

Ningetamani hata huyo ahamie Tanzania name nimteue ubalozi awakilishe mahali pengine. He is a good ambassador,” he added.

Magufuli’s praise to Kazungu came after a press conference where the Kenyan ambassador stressed out the advantages of the two counties co-existing citing binding cultural, historical, and economic ties.

This was after the two countries almost “came to blows” following Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta’s move to close the borders to Tanzanians. The Tanzanian President counter-attacked by banning all Kenyan tracks from entering his country.

As tension between the two countries heated up, Magufuli disclosed that he had spoken to Uhuru Kenyatta where he the two Presidents came to an understanding over the border row.

He pointed out that Kenya was among Tanzania’s biggest trading partners adding that it was left to the Ministers of Transport and the Provisional Commissioners of the two countries to make sure that the relationship did not dwindle.

He added that Tanzanians need businesses in Kenya and vice versa stressing out that the Coronavirus pandemic should not be able to come in between the neighboring countries.

Magufuli has expressed his desire to allow tourists back into the country as he eyes re-opening of the economy.
