Mediheal exposed for racism and discriminating Kenyan medics

A nurse working at The Mediheal hospital in Eastleigh exposed the rot in the hospital through blogger Alai seeking help.

The nurse started by identifying as a desperate, distressed, and depressed Kenyan. The medic further requested Alai to hide their identity.

The nurse further complained that the Eastleigh based hospital had introduced half-pay measures as an effort to deal with the pandemic. However, two months later, and they have not yet received their salaries.

According to the nurse, the medics are working full time dealing with patients.

“Last month but one, they introduced a half salary effective May. As of today, we have not been paid for two months despite working full time, round the clock, managing patients with Covid and others without.”

The medic further complained that they had not paid their rent for two months. According to the nurse, the hospital always has patients.

“I am a healthcare provider. I have not paid rent for two months; no salary. It’s the end of July now still no salary for the last month, yet we have always had patients at the hospital at all times.”

The nurse further emphasized that the medics on Mediheal also have dependents. According to the anonymous nurse, some practitioners are no longer at their houses due to rent arrears.

“We have people who depend on us; we have bills to pay. Some of us have already been kicked out of our houses.”

Mediheal is racist.

The nurse further complained that Indian medics are still receiving their full pay despite Kenyan physicians having to leave with slashed salaries.

According to the nurse, the hospital also houses the Indian medics shielding them from some of the problems the Kenyan medics are undergoing.

“The Indian nurses who work there are paid more (and it’s ok I am not complaining), and the hospital houses them, so they don’t go through the hustle that we go through.”

The distressed nurse further begged Alai to help them since they are stressed.

“Man kindly come through for us. I am giving in. I can’t take it anymore.”
