Ngirici takes over Waiguru’s duties after the governor failed to deliver

Kirinyaga Women Representative Purity Ngirici has taken over road projects in the county after Governor Waiguru failed to deliver.

She took to her social media pages announcing the news before claiming Waiguru had let down Kirinyaga residents. Ngirici also faulted the governor for going against her 2017 manifesto promise on delivering roads.

According to the women rep, she will answer the cry of Kirinyaga residents. Ngirici went on to explain that Kirinyaga residents have been reaching out to her regarding roads.

“I have received more letters and calls about poor county roads than about anything else given that I have become the person they pass all their letters onto for my response. It is now over three years since the county government took over, and our roads are still dilapidated.”

I do not mind building the roads.

Ngirici also added that her official government duties do not involve building roads. She, however, promised to deliver the roads. According to Ngirici, her main reason for joining a leadership position was to serve further, adding she does not mind building the roads.

“Even though my scope of work and government resources do not extend to road maintenance, I don’t mind. That’s why I came into leadership, to deal with some of the problems that matter to people’s everyday lives,” Ngirici posted on her Facebook page.

The women rep also revealed she has already dispatched plant equipment to Gichugu, Mwea, and Kirinyaga Central constituencies. According to her, the plant equipment will take care of road maintenance and building in those constituencies.

According to Ngirici, she had started the projects in 2015. She further revealed that she had managed to build over 60% of roads for the two years. However, she stopped after Waiguru became the Kiriyaga governor to give her a chance and serve. Three years down the line and Waiguru has not delivered.

Ngirici and Waiguru are sworn rivals and never see eye to eye. Waiguru had earlier on in January warned the woman rep against early campaigns in Kirinyaga.
