Nyanza residents read mischief after Murathe endorses Raila

Some residents of Nyanza have come out warning Raila against banking on Murathe’s endorsement for his 2022 presidential bid.

The people said politics come with many tricks; therefore, the son of their soil should not sit pretty.

Audi Ogada, the Kisumu Residents Voice Association chairperson, said it’s early to begin celebrating. Migori county ODM chairman Philip Makabongo and HomaBay Bunge la Wenye Nchi head Walter Opiyo supported Ogada’s sentiments.

He, however, added that a majority of Kenyans knew the changes made by Raila

Murathe said Kenyans should brace for Raila’s presidency during the 2022 general elections. While comparing Raila to Nelson Mandela, Murathe added since Raila has fought hard for Kenyans, he needed rewarding.

However, Ogada advised Nyanza’s residents not to hope of making Raila, the President following Murathe’s endorsement.

During the presser, Bunge la Wenye Nchi head urged the Head of State to reform the electoral body.

He said only Kenyans could decide if they want Raila for President and not one person.

The government on backing Raila

Opiyo urged the people of Mt. Kenya and the President to make Raila the President sine he supported them wholeheartedly.

His father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, said independence would be meaningless without Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, while Raila supported Mwai Kibaki with “Tosha.”

Makabongo added that Raila hadn’t declared interest to run for the presidency in 2022. The ODM Migori chairman said when the time comes, Uhuru will surprise people with his preferred candidate.

“Murathe cannot speak for the president since Uhuru hasn’t named his preferred candidate yet,” said Makabongo.

The three advised Raila to keep his associates whose comments will propagate his chances close.

Also, they expressed their concerns regarding rumors that Raila would use the system to propel him towards the presidency.

They advised leaders to mind their words because pride always comes before a fall. On the other hand, critics have warned Raila against pushing some agendas forth as the government may dump him later.
