Orange Democratic Movement party National Youth coordinator Benson Musungu on Saturday 11 July 2020 narrated his horrific experience after spending 15 days in the ICU at the Agha Khan Hospital after contracting COVID-19.
Mr. Musungu while speaking in an interview with Citizen TV narrated that he lost his appetite on May 27 which came with other things such as fever and that was when he decided to check himself to a hospital.
He said that when he got to the hospital, he lost his breath and was taken straight to the ICU.
He explained that the reason why he was admitted for 15 days was because his body had no food and they had to feed him first before he could start medication.
“I remember I lost my appetite on my 27, and it came with other things like fever. On the 8th, that was when I decided to go to the hospital. When I got to the hospital and lost my breath, they took me straight to ICU. The reason why I was there for 15 days is because my body had no food. They had to feed me first. On the sixth day, they started medication,” he narrated.
He went on to say that after spending 10 days in the hospital; he could feel himself again and could do things by himself.
“After 10 days, I could feel myself and answer my phone. I could disconnect the machine and go to the toilet by myself,” he added.
He went on to mention that he received backlash from some people who claimed that he was not sick.
He revealed that he got one message telling him that his bank account was full because he had been paid to play sick.
“The worst message I received on my phone read ‘I am very sure your bank account is smiling because you have been paid to play sick’. Who can play sick to a point of going to ICU?,” he wondered.
