ODM leader Raila Odinga received a lot of criticism from Kenyans on Twitter after he posted a photo of the late George Floyd. The politician went ahead to give his sentiments on the murder of George Floyd.
He said that he was mourning the deceased and hoped that justice would prevail. Additionally, he said that authorities should judge people by their character and not the color of their skin. He also said that he is praying for everyone living in America because they all deserve justice and freedom.
Angered by his post, Kenyans questioned why he commented on George Floyd’s murder, yet he remained mum on the issue of DJ Evolve.
Oduor Ong’wen, the Orange Democratic Movement CEO, issued a statement on DJ Evolve’s story. He said that ODM was not a party to the incident where MP Babu Owino allegedly shot DJ Evolve.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino shot DJ Evolve at B-Club, Nairobi, in January. The hospital recently discharged him, but he is still paralyzed from the waist down.
“For the record, Babu Owino and DJ Evolve matter was a bar brawl turned near-fatal. The ODM party has no direct interest in the matter. We wish the victim speedy and full restoration of health. We also urge the State’s criminal justice system to serve justice,” Ong’wen tweeted.
Edwin Sifuna, the ODM Secretary-General, declined to comment on the issue. He said that Ong’wen is responsible for his sentiments, and anyone with questions should direct them to him.
Speaking at an exclusive interview with NTV, DJ Evolve narrated his plight. He explained how he now depends on people to do everything for him. He also said that his hands were his tools of trade, but right now, he can barely move them.
Asked if he had forgiven Babu Owino, Dj Evolve said he had left it all to God and the justice system.
