Police shoot Jubilee’s Senator father for not wearing mask

Lamu Senator Anwar Liotiptip is a distressed man after his father David Kiwaka was left nursing gun wounds after allegedly being shot by the police for not wearing a mask.

The Senator revealed that his father who was taken to Nanyuki Cottage was shot in the leg by an officer attached to Doldol Police Station in Laikipia County on Sunday 17, May.

“My father David Kiwaka has been shot in the leg and brutally injured by police officers at Dildol Police Station, Laikipia County. He has been rushed to Nanyuki Cottage,” read the statement.

He went on to reveal that he was in Nanyuki to pursue the matter. He added that justice must prevail for his father. He stated that he is calling for speedy investigations and for the officer involved to be arrested.

The information was also shared with the public by his wife Saumu Mbuvi who is the daughter of Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko. Saumu took to her Instagram page to disclose that her father-in-law had been shot yet it was still day time.

She went on to call out police offers stating that police brutality must post. She added that every day, cases pile-up of the police shooting innocent Kenyans, and nothing is ever done.

She added stated that police should stop using their powers to intimidate innocent Kenyans.

“They shot mu father-in-law today, yet it was still daytime! Police brutality must stop… Every day we get cases of them shooting innocent citizens and nothing is being done… it is tie this ends. Police brutality must stop and should stop! We are tired. Stop taking advantage of your power to intimidate innocent citizens,” Saumu Mbuvi shared on her Instagram page.

Since the government put up measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus, Police have been on the spot for being accused of using excessive force to implement the measures.
