Mudavadi calls Raila a political con, ODM responds

ANC boss Musalia Mudavadi called ODM leader Raila Odinga a political con, claiming that Raila’s handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta was a pre-arranged settlement. Mudavadi also claimed that Raila and Uhuru had an agreement before the repeat presidential polls in 2017.

Raila Odinga recently declared that he would not endorse anyone for the presidency in 2022. He claimed that they were cowards for not attending his swearing-in as the people’s President. The announcement rubbed his Nasa principals the wrong way since they were betting on him supporting one of them for the elections.

Musalia Mudavadi claimed that the ODM leader was deceitful. Additionally, he alleged that Raila staged the illegal swearing in to better his chances of a handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Mudavadi also revealed that by the time the repeat Presidential elections were taking place, Raila had already come to an understanding with the President.

“It is more cowardly to pull out of a repeat election, disguised as a protest of the pre-rigged outcome, when in fact it’s because the act is part of a pre-arranged settlement for yourself,” Mudavadi said.

“Raila hates it when we remind him that he’s a political con. However, you should know he’ll be a political con until he forgoes deceit. Politics of deceit doesn’t befit a Kenyan leader,” he added.

ODM responds

The ODM party did not take Mudavadi’s statement lying down. The party noted that Musalia Mudavadi was a failed politician that Raila had defeated in the 2013 general elections.

Edwin Sifuna, the ODM secretary-general, said that Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, and Kalonzo Musyoka to stop depending on Raila Odinga if they want to vie for the presidency.

“We advice the three that if they want the presidency, Raila does not keep the ballots at his home. They must travel the breadth of the country seeking that mandate. Raila is focusing on helping the President deliver on the unity agenda for all Kenyan,” he said.
