The former Prime Minister Raila Odinga forgave Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina after the two had a meeting.
Moreover, Raila directed the party’s Senate leadership, not to oust Ole Kina from the influential County Public Accounts and Investments Committee.
Mr. Odinga gave the injection after a breakfast meeting with leaders from the Maasai community and senators at his Karen home.
A source from Raila’s communication team said the meeting took place upon the request of Maasai elders.
“During the meeting, senator Ole Kina apologized for his misgivings and disobeying the of the committee chairmanship,” read the statement in part.
On Friday, Ole Kina showed signs of warming up to the party during the removal of Kithure Kindiki as the deputy speaker.
“I am a loyal member of ODM. My party leader shouldn’t listen to alarmists and their propaganda,” said Ole Kina while supporting the motion to replace Mr. Kindiki.
Prior to these events, Ole Kina defied the leadership to support Kisii senator Sam Ongeri as the committee chairman.
Instead, he combined efforts with senators allied to DP William Ruto to secure the position.
On its part, ODM senate leadership removed him from the committee and rejected his election.
In retaliation, Senator OleKina challenged the motion in High Court following his removal from the committee. The court responded and temporarily stopped his ouster from the committee.
However, Ole Kina changed his mind and surrendered the seat.
Kenya News has established the warning between leaders is a broader plan for President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mr. Odinga 2022 succession politics.
Senator Ole Kina represents a bigger ploy in the Maasai community as he will help the two leaders gain support from the Maasai community.
Additionally, it’s believed the Senator is being prepared for the minority whip position takeover.
Mr. Ole Kina is one of the few leaders that the President and Mr. Odinga plan to make a regional kingpin.
