ODM leader Raila Odinga has a new strategy to protect his Luo Nyanza political bedrock. On Sunday, the former Prime Minister camped in Kisumu County. He aims at protecting the Nyanza region from Deputy President William Ruto.
After reports emerged that DP Ruto had plans to tour Kisumu County, Kisumu ODM delegates allegedly arranged for a conference in a hurry. Sources claim that they actually planned for the conference on Saturday night.
The conference itself was a strategy meeting. The ODM delegates were well aware that the President would tour the Nyanza region with goodies.
Raila Odinga criticized the Deputy President for preying on jobless youth ahead of the 2022 general elections.
“From the current development status, we are talking about baking a bigger cake for the whole country. But some people are snatching a lot from the cake we are baking, which is not enough, and bringing you crumbs,” Raila said.
Some of Raila’s supporters who feel they are not getting any returns from him have changed their minds. They have started warming up to Deputy President William Ruto.
Raila assured his supporters that the goodie Ruto is dishing out is nothing compared to what he and the president are offering.
Nyanza Youth Movement for Ruto 2022
The Nyanza Youth Movement for Ruto 2022 has accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of abandoning his people.
Members of the movement had a meeting at Tom Mboya Estate. They all agreed that they would support Ruto in the 2022 General Elections.
“As the youth, we are ready to walk with Ruto. We will not be going to the DP with these leaders. We want to bring everyone on board so that they know that ODM is not popular as they thought,” one member of the movement said.
Raila Odinga urged the youth to be careful with their votes. Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor said that the party would not condone anyone who joins Ruto’s camp.
