Why Nairobi MCA Ann Thumbi may be ejected from Jubilee

The Jubilee party has summoned nominated Member County Assembly (MCA) Anne Thumbi over allegations of showing disrespect to the party and being disloyal.

The party issued a statement, noting that they intend to charge the Nairobi MCA who is a member of the Jubilee party.

Anne Thumbi recently started volunteering as a nurse following the challenges facing health practitioners in the fight against Covid-19. The Jubilee party expects her to go to their offices and respond to the above mentioned allegations.

The Jubilee party plans to make a determination on whether Thumbi’s actions were in accordance with the Jubilee party rules.

People started questioning the MCA’s loyalty in the 2019 Kibra by-elections.Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had revealed that the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth allegedly had a secret family with Ann Thumbi. Additionally, Sonko revealed that the two had a son together. Ann Thumbi alleged that the late Kibra MP is the father to her son.

The Kibra elections put Thumbi’s loyalty to the test. A lot of people expected her to side with ODM’s Imran Okoth who is the brother to the former Kibra MP. However, Thumbi declared her support for Jubilee candidate Macdonald Mariga.

Thumbi proved her loyalty when she declared her stand and stood in solidarity with the Jubilee candidate.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko also made certain allegations during the burial of Ken Okoth. The allegations also put the MCA on the limelight. Sonko claimed that he nominated Thumbi because the late Ken Okoth requested him to do so.

The Nairobi Governor claimed that after the 2017 elections, the late Ken Okoth went to him and requested him to nominate his ‘second wife’ to the county assembly. Sonko revealed that the only reason he decided to nominate Ann Thumbi was because Ken Okoth was his wife.

After Ann Thumbi presents her case to the Jubilee party, the party will make a decision about her ejection.
