Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho has threatened to sue former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.
After recording a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the PS noted that the former county boss would answer all allegations leveled against him.
Kibicho was referring to claims made by Sonko at a function in Dagoretti South on Sunday. During the rally, Sonko told a crowd that the two organized the torching of cars along Ngong Road during a post-election protest in 2017.
The PS also said that the former county boss had made remarks to tarnish his reputation in the past.
“I’m assuring you that this will not end here. Sonko must answer to all allegations against me in a court of law. He added that in the past, the former governor linked him to the death of former Vice President George Saitoti. He must come out and tell us how we killed Saitoti,” he said.
Earlier, ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna said an investigation should be launched into Sonko’s allegations.
Sifuna also noted how ODM’s detractors had for a long time abused and used social media, the mainstream media, and state power to portray the party as a purveyor of anarchy and violence.
“Despite our efforts, to tell the truth, the view has been perpetuated. However, our enemies are the ones who have executed, planned, and authored these dirty schemes,” added Sifuna.
