Raila blasts Ruto ahead of DP’s visit to Kisumu

Former Prime Minister and ODM party leader Raila Odinga on Sunday the 20th of September 2020 visited Kisumu ahead of Dp Ruto’s visit.

Kisumu residents could not hold back and showed up in large numbers to welcome Raila to what many refer to as his political backyard.

Speaking at the Kisumu Central ODM offices, Raila addressed the crowds and promised to help build an economic hub. He further discussed the meter-gauge railway and the economic benefits that come with it.

“We will be able to export goods to Mwanza, Musoma, Bukoba and Port Bell, which will then be supplied to Rwanda, Burundi and DR Congo,” Raila said.

Further adding,

“We are also bringing a special economic zone here which is going to bring a lot of industries around Kisumu. We are also going to create a corridor from Mombasa, Athi River, Naivasha and Kisumu.”

Raila also went on to reassure Kisumu residents that this economic move will help in creating job opportunities for area residents.

Hustler nation has always existed.

The former prime minister went on to call out Ruto for using the notion ‘hustler nation’. Citing former presidents Mwai Kibaki, Moi and founding father Mzee Kenyatta, Raila claimed the hustler nation has always been there.

He further explained that all these presidents came from humble backgrounds but managed to beat all odds and rule the country.

“Kenya is much more than the hustler nation. The founding father of the nation was a peasant, and he worked as a metre reader in Nairobi,” Raila said.

Further adding,

“Sacho in Baringo is a very simple village where people are poor, but Moi rose to become a President. Kibaki was also from a poor background but became the head of state.”

Raila and Ruto have been traversing the country campaigning over the 2022 general elections. While Ruto has been focusing on promoting his hustler notion and issuing donations, Raila has been promoting the BBI.

Raila’s visit comes before the much anticipated DP Ruto’s tour.
