Raila launches fresh attack against the DP, says he should be jailed

Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga has launched an attack against Deputy President William Ruto as he accused him of doublespeak.

The party leader, who was drumming up support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI)in Nairobi on Saturday, further accused the DP of being a beneficiary of corruption.

The former Prime Minister said that Ruto should not speak as if he is not part of the government when he campaigns for his 2022 presidential bid.

“ When he goes to the grassroots, he wants to insinuate that he is a poor man or a hustler. When in other areas, he is the number one farmer or businessman,” Raila said.

Raila challenged Ruto, whose businesses he said no one knows about, to explain to people why his government has not fulfilled its election promises.

The ODM leader said Ruto promised Kenyans a knowledge-based economy, but he is now giving them hand-carts and wheelbarrows, asking him to give Kenyans the millions of jobs he promised.

He also accused Ruto of not being able to explain the source of his wealth. Raila added that instead of the DP moving from one church to another to give contributions, he should be locked up in Kamiti for corruption and public funds theft.

The party leader was speaking at Ufungamano House, where he had met ODM and Jubilee women leaders from Nairobi to drum up support for the BBI.

He was accompanied by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and former MP Denis Waweru, who are co-chairs of the BBI secretariat.

Others present in the meeting were Mbita MP Milly Odhiambo, Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, Migori Women Representative Pamela Odhiambo, Makadara MP George Aladwa, and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

MPs Waweru and Junet told the Deputy President to either support and work under his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta or quit the government.

On Monday, Amani National Congress party the DP should either resign or face impeachment for undermining the president.
